Compassionate and constructive support for those suffering from unresolved trauma, depression, addiction, dependency and mental health problems.

The Yellow Heart Trust is unique in recognising that people leaving primary treatment need ongoing help in dealing with ALL associated problems. We provide support to men and women with financial restrictions, who need further therapeutic help and assistance towards a more beneficial and fulfilling recovery following initial treatment in whatever form,

  • Support continuing therapy for those in early recovery from alcohol and drug abuse, gambling, trauma, depression, behavioural disorders, relationship problems and social difficulties arising from their illness

  • Helping maintain long-term abstinence from drugs and alcohol and rebuilding lives

  • Funding or partly funding primary treatment

  • Funding or partly funding therapy

  • Funding or partly funding professional psychiatric treatment

  • Developing spiritual and emotional well being

  • Improving self esteem and confidence

The Yellow Heart Trust was founded in 2002. The founder Alex Fontaine MBE had survived a brutal criminal assault at age 22. Unknown to her, she suffered post traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) for 10 years which resulted in alcohol and drug abuse. She was fortunate enough to have extensive rehabilitation treatment and trauma therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). The compassion and professional care she received which has saved her life inspired her to set up The Yellow Heart Trust.

Alex Fontaine was on The Queen's Birthday Honours 2007 and awarded an MBE for Outstanding Service to Disadvantaged Women by founding The Yellow Heart Trust.

Antonio Vasconcellos, along with 50 others died on the occasion of his 26th birthday in the Marchioness riverboat tragedy on the river Thames in 1989. A fund is to be established in the memory of this remarkable man who balanced a career as a successful fund manager with the roles of entrepreneur, writer, musician and philanthropist. As so many of those who survived the sinking of the Marchioness benefited from post traumatic stress disorder therapy the fund's aim will be to provide help for those coming to terms with unresolved issues resulting from trauma.

The Antonio Vasconcellos fund has been established within the Yellow Heart Trust and is being administered by the trust. The application process is being finalised and should be completed by the end of 2011.The application process should be along the following lines,

  • Application to the fund to be made via verified and standardised form

  • Application to be supported by a recognised psychiatrist, therapist or treatment centre

  • A committee, including an expert in the therapeutic field to review applications and select successful beneficiaries

  • An award to be made to a successful applicant (typically small awards for a finite course of treatment)

  • Funds typically to be transferred to the therapist or treatment centre leading the course of treatment

  • A confidential report to be made to the fund committee following the course of treatment

The Antonio Vasconcellos Fund will be administered by The Yellow Heart Trust and it is envisaged that the administration costs will be kept minimal as most individuals involved are giving of their time freely.
